Below are the answers to frequently asked questions about this training. It may spark further questions;

feel free to email me! dana@inbodylife.com

1. How large is the training i.e. how many students?

ANSWER: We sign up 20 people at a time; there may be more people at some

sessions making up classes from previous trainings, but there will not be

more than 25 attendees per session.

2. I live in Provo/Sandy, can I take some of the community classes at Alpine Yoga and

Bikram Yoga Sandy? Are the classes at the Alpine Yoga Studio also free and part of the

100 hours required for personal practice?

ANSWER: Yes, you can attend class at Alpine Yoga for your 100 hours of

personal practice. Those classes would then be included in your training (no

extra charge to you) as well as any classes at Centered City Yoga. And yes, you

can fulfill your Bikram hours at the Sandy studio at no extra cost to you. I just

need to know WHICH Bikram studio you will attend.

3. Does the 100 hours of personal practice have to start right when we begin the training?

Can I start a month late and go a month over to achieve all the hours I need without an

extra fee?

ANSWER: You are welcome to start your personal practice early, late, etc.

Just start keeping track of the hours you practice.

4. Can I attend missed weekends with the next session? If I miss a weekend, how do I make

it up? Some weekends are impossible for me. But others are perfect timing. How flexible

is this program, and would it be possible to identify the classes and workshops I will miss,

and attend those during the next certification?

ANSWER: Yes, you can make up any missed teacher training sessions

during the next certification program. It is important to be at the initial two

hour “introduction” session so that you can get all your materials and meet

everyone in your group. I have designed the program in specific sessions so

that you can easily determine which weekend you missed and need to make

up in the following certification program.

5. I wonder if it is realistic to try to invest time in this certification? I live a very full life

already and am wondering how people do this?

ANSWER: The program will take up 536 hours of your time over a period of

6 months, and a lot of it is at home (reading, doing homework, journaling)

or your own personal practice (taking yoga classes or doing yoga at home).

So if you are self motivated then YES I do believe you could handle the

training. Most attendees feel overwhelmed with the checklist, but if you

plug away at the reading and your own practice, you really get into a

routine. Reading averages 5 hours a week, journaling maybe an hour a

week, and the homework is one to two hours before each session.

6. The Yoga Immersion Retreat in May - where will it be?

ANSWER: In Altamont UT, near Duschesne. Check our website –

www.centeredcityyoga.com to get all the info on the retreat. At the first

meeting, we will have the retreat brochure for you.

7. Does this training class have a focus on chanting?

ANSWER: No, there is no group chanting. We will go over mantras and other

ways to get into meditation, but no group chanting will be taught.

8. What does what does a typical yoga teacher make hourly?

ANSWER: A full time teacher teaches BETWEEN 12 – 20 CLASSES PER

WEEK. They usually make $30 + per class. SO if you taught 15 classes a week,

you could take home $450 a week, or $1800 a month. You could offer private

lessons, which can bring in another $50 - $70 an hour. You could also make

more if you offer classes on your own or rent space somewhere and start your

own business, but of course the costs can be higher on the other end. You can

also offer workshops to augment the income. Part time is how most teachers do

it, and they do have another job to supplement.

9. How many hours of the training will we be teaching? Where are some likely places for us

to teach? Can we make suggestions?

ANSWER: You will be teaching and assisting for a minimum of 6 hours in the

intro classes.  You will also volunteer teach for a minimum of 20 hours. You

will be practice teaching with each other throughout the training (minimum of

12 hours), and I will also require you to arrange a group of people to teach

(group of friends) so that they can give you an evaluation. SO, a minimum of 40

hours practice teaching. We will have a list of placements for you on the first

meeting. If you are interested in teaching to a specific group, just let us know.

10. Are there any prerequisites for signing up?

ANSWER: You have to have a personal yoga practice, which means you have to

already be DOING yoga.

11. What have past students gone on to do with their certification?

ANSWER: It has run gamut – from owning their own studio to becoming a full

time teacher, to private training, to volunteer work with yogis in service, to

working in gyms, etc. Some people take the training simply to enhance their own

practice. It is really up to you to decide how far you want to take it.

12. Is it reasonable to expect to be able to find a teaching job locally?  In another state?

Private lessons?  At another yoga studio?

ANSWER: YES to all of the above. Some establishments may ask you to become

Yoga Alliance Certified, but the program meets YA requirements, you just need to

fill out their forms on your own.

13. When is the tuition due?

ANSWER: $200  non-refundable is due with your application, then you can either pay the tuition in

full, or establish a $400 a month pay plan. Your first payment is due one month

before the first session, and the last payment is due at the last session.
