There is much more to yoga than poses, and much more to learn about yoga than how to wrap your leg around your head. If you are seeking more than just the next “advanced pose,” this weekend is for you, but don’t expect it to be about posing.

The Sutras are a record of some of the simplest, yet more profound revelations and practices for exploring human potential. I’ve been studying them personally and teaching from them professionally for over 25 years. Each time I revisit them, I learn something new, or get curious about something I’ve disregarded in the past, or understand myself in a whole new way. This is a layered and multifaceted body of work, one that has always been a source of questions rather than answers. The sutras are a record of scientific findings rather than a list of commandments; a book about potentiality and possibility, rather than morality and sin. Less a text that tells me I have no right to interpret them, and more a body of work that says one can (and should) apply these principles to their lives and be better for it. It is in this spirit that I will present this evening discussion. I guarantee it is a fresh perspective, a new way to look at the Sutras and the possibilities therein.

D’ana Baptiste, the founder of Centered City Yoga and InBody Yoga Academy (that was eventually sold to Aron Stein) (Centered City Yoga has its own Advanced Yoga Teacher Training in house), has written and presented curriculum specifically on this topic for 22 years, and has studied over 200 translations in the past 26 years. She has set the standard for yoga in Utah, opening Alpine Yoga in 1999, founding Centered City Yoga in 2003, and co-founding the Baptiste Power Yoga Institute in 1995.
