Part of makes our 200-hour program unique is that we offer small classes. We understand each person is a human and needs to be heard, and offered many opportunities to speak and ask questions, and be mentored as you discover quality teaching skills and knowledge.
Our program prepares students for teaching, while also weaving yoga aspects into daily life, by not only teaching asana, but also full spectrum of yoga, relating to meditation, pranayama, ethics and values, and how they can assist the human condition, as taught by the great sage Patanjali.
We believe yoga is truly the journey to the Self, meaning the physical practice is wonderful for developing balance in physical strength and flexibility, but we also believe we must weave into our practice the understanding of proper breath-work, meditation, and other authentic methods, to truly help our students to develop an in-side out practice.
It is not just an introductory teaching course, but one that will advance your own practice and understanding of yoga, as you learn to teach myriad populations a practice that meets each human where they are, and help your students discover, and awaken to, their own path to healing and balance in life.
This program is appropriate as well for students who would like to participate as a way to enhance their own practice, and life, even if teaching is not your dharma path. There are deeply lineage-based teachings in our program, with many therapeutic values, that teach well beyond yoga asana and vinyasas, into the constructs of daily life.
Included in the Yoga Soul Teacher Training Program, presented by Centered City Yoga:
Seva practice. Seva is selfless service; each student will work on behalf of a family (can be your own) or community program, offering and applying yoga practices and/or philosophies as tools to help others who may not otherwise discover yoga, to develop a practice.
Immersion weekends. Our 200-hour program is broken up into 7 intensive weekends which include, lectures, workshops, other instruction and practice time of teaching.
Special Project. You choose a style of yoga, as well as a population you are interested in serving. Centered City Yoga senior teachers are your mentors and will help you to develop yoga classes, you will then teach, as a way to help you have the courage to find your voice, and share your passions.

-
This program has changed me and changed my life. I learned so much about yoga, teaching, and myself. The instructors are incredible, I cannot rave enough about Rachel, David, and Eric. I appreciate that this 300 YTT emphasizes teaching. Trainees are encouraged to teach every week throughout. We were challenged to purposefully implement aspects from each weekend before the next. This encourages the lessons to take root and inspires our teaching to evolve. The group size of our YTT class was perfect and blessed me with life long friends.

I am so grateful for the opportunity I had to study yoga history, philosophy, anatomy and safe sequencing, with an emphasis on personal reflection and self-driven reading and journaling to attain a more personal connection with the yoga lifestyle. I gained a deeper understanding of my love and passion for yoga and the roots from which it was born and has evolved into through American culture. Rachel's mentorship has completely changed my life and my ability to share the practice of yoga with others in a safe environment with the education to explain what I've learned and will continue to learn on my yogic life path. I will be forever grateful for crossing paths with Rachel and for the exchange of information, love, and SOUL that she has committed herself to sharing with the world.

I spend a lot of our time discussing how to solve the world’s problems through politics, economics, or education, but at the end of all of our discussions, it tends to come back to the how messy everything is and how we have limited power to create change. When I see all of the challenges that are facing humanity, I want to help find a way through them, and I think that at the moment my current gifts mean that I can do that best in a yoga space. I want to cultivate the qualities of life that will help us make it through what is to come and trust in the fractal lines that connect us to send the small changes I can make around me to the rest of the world. I think this has always been my goal in life, but this program has helped me find clarity and see the ways that it can be done.
